Be Happier: FIVE Things to Stop Doing Right Now
Sometimes the route to happiness depends upon what you don't do.
STOP:
1. Over-talking: The word SILENT has the same letters as the word LISTEN. When you become silent by speaking less, you will be present with others and learn more.
2. Rushing: Take time and show people what you mean, rather than raise your voice and yell or over-explain. One on one, shoulder to shoulder, be with the person who you need, and who needs you.
3. Eye rolling: Eye rolling is a silent punch to the gut. You know how it feels when it happens to you. And yet, you have done it as well. Maybe even to your child! Let go of the eye roll and put compassion and love in your eyes. You will receive a much better response, and your understanding will make the recipient of your glance feel at ease.
4. Sighing: Conscious breathing is a great way to regain your sense of presence and restore calm. An expressive sigh, however, has the opposite effect. Sighing reinforces your level of discontent, and lets others know how upset you are. Let sighing go, and calmly breathe.
5. Seeking what's wrong: When you walk in to a room, restaurant, or theater, you can notice the seating is wrong, the lighting is wrong, people's attire is wrong. Or, you can shift your awareness and notice what is right! There is so much going on that's right - right here, right now! Notice it and allow the goodness to fill you up!
Adopt one of these "stops" each day for the next five days. Schedule a reminder on your phone, or write sticky notes and remind yourself what to stop each day. You will see the best of yourself emerge, as you let go of these traits. Taking action is the greatest gift you can give yourself and those around you! Be happy!
You know the outcome you want. Obstacles are in the way. Namely, fear. Ready for the work you love, peaceful parenting, vibrant health, happy relationships? Contact Carla for your Breakthrough Session: carla@getcoached.com

How to Jumpstart Your Day With a Motivational Jolt!
Are you a morning person by nature or are you a "snooze" hitter? Once, twice...? We all know what it is like when you first wake up. You tend to lay around for a few or hit that snooze button because 5 minutes sounds like an eternity. Let's break that bad habit and start developing habits that result in motivated, happy, enjoyable days, one after the other. In this article, you will learn some ways to get a motivational push so that you can get up and get HAPPY! Practice makes permanent, right? Start practicing these exercises and you will find yourself happier when waking. Continue them and you will find yourself happier each and every day, as well as more productive, optimistic, healthier, and more enjoyable to be around. Adults and children, alike, can practice these habits and enjoy a more rewarding and enjoyable day.
6 Steps to Get up and Get Happy:
1. Make up your mind to "Get up and Get Happy" the night before and every night. Period.
2. Wake up to a pleasant alarm, be that your children's squeeling laughter or the tune of don't worry, be happy. But, a screeching annoying alarm is not a pleasant way to start your day. Also, put your alarm on the other side of the room. Don't let that alarm sit right by you where you can just hit the snooze button. If you have to get up and walk across the room it will help motivate you to stay up.
3. Set your alarm 40-60 minutes early and take that time to read motivational material or something that brings joy to your mind and heart. Affirmations are another great addition to a good morning. Have your affirmations near your bed--on your Ipod or place a CD in your automatic alarm clock. How can one go wrong waking up to positive affirmations?
4. Take one minute upon awaking to say a prayer, meditate, and give thanks. You'll be amazed at how much it feeds your spirit to focus on being a blessing and gratitude for your own blessings upon awakening.
5. Love on your family before starting your day. Don't be a grump first thing in the morning. There's nothing I love more than the sweet smell of my children's skin first thing in the morning.
6. Ten minutes of exercise in the morning will help get your day started. Exercise stimulates the muscles, the nerves, the mind, the heart, the body. It is inevitable that you will feel better after some mental movement, as well as phycial movement.
If you are tired of a stressful start to your morning, try these suggestions and I personally guarantee a "Get up and Get Happy" kind of day! Negativity breeds negativity and once the negative snowball starts rolling, its all downhill. Don't let that happen to you and your family. Get up and Get Happy!! Helping Happiness Along
Happiness is worth helping along.
The benefits of being a happy person are huge. We live longer, live healthier, and live more lively lives.
Unfortunately, all but the most highly-evolved among us have our less-than-happy moments. Fortunately, we can do simple things to recapture a happy mood if we find ourselves lacking one.
I found an article that starts, "Everyone wants to be happy, but happiness is more than pasting a smile on your face."
True, but that is a great start.
Pasting a smile on your face, even if forced, gets the happiness engine started. If you are from the North, a forced smile is like a jump start on a frigid morning.
Even though you are still freezing, you got started.
Another strategy is to force yourself to take a few deep breaths.
Something about our internal hardwiring will not allow us be negative and well-oxygenated at the same time.
A few deep breaths clears the head, relieves tension, and relaxes the posture. After some deep breathing, we hold our bodies in a way more conducive to a happy state of mind.
Another trick is to laugh.
We can do this the sane way or the insane way.
The sane way is to find something to laugh about. In my experience, this is the option most people choose.
This could be as simple as going to a joke website or watching a stand-up show on Comedy Central.
The insane option is the funniest, most self-reliant, and the most private. We can start laughing for no apparent reason, except to recapture the state of happiness.
I've done this and it works. However, for obvious reasons, don't try this at home, unless you are alone.
However you do it, help happiness along.
It's closer that you think.
